It’s October and that means it’s Pumpkin time.  Cal Poly Pomona has one of the largest pumpkin patches around.  Jeff travels to the Cal Poly Farm Store to find out what it takes to produce so many pumpkins each year.

A bit of history:  In 1925 W.K. Kellogg of Corn Flakes fame build his California Horse Ranch in Pomona, on which Cal Poly Pomona sits today.  He raised and cared for a stable of Arabian horses.  On the weekend the public was invited to see the horses, many owned by celebrities like Rudolph Valentino.  In 1949 Kellogg donated the land to the state providing the land be used for education and maintain an Arabian horse center.  Today both still occupy the site.

In 2001, Cal poly opened their own farm store.  Now they sell there own produce and local growers produce.  They offer their own wine, grown and bottle on the University through the Collins School. Also offered at the farm store, plants, juices and lunch items.
